Pregnancy fitness update
Many of you often ask how my training routine and nutrition have changed since I became pregnant, and the answer is simpler than it may seem. The biggest shift has been learning to listen to my body more closely than ever before. Instead of focusing on performance, progress, or discipline, I now focus on how I feel and what my body is capable of on a particular day.
I still work out three times a week, just as I did before. The structure itself gives me a sense of stability and keeps me active, which is important for both physical and emotional wellbeing. What has changed is the intensity. I keep it at about ten to twenty percent of what it used to be. I no longer chase challenging sequences or push myself beyond comfort. I avoid jumping, any heavy abdominal work, and movements that place too much pressure on my back. My goal is not to maintain my best shape but to support my body as it performs the most energy-consuming task of all: growing a baby.
One of the biggest lessons pregnancy taught me is kindness toward myself. If during a workout I suddenly feel a drop in energy, discomfort, or simply a sense that my body needs rest, I stop without hesitation. There is no guilt or frustration attached to it. This softer approach feels very natural now, and it helps me maintain a healthy relationship with movement rather than forcing it.
As for nutrition, it has remained mostly the same, just more thoughtful. I pay attention to the quality of food because everything I eat influences not only my health but also the wellbeing of my baby. I focus on balance, whole ingredients, and meals that make me feel steady and nourished. At the moment I am not experiencing many cravings, but the first trimester was a completely different story. I suddenly needed meat and potatoes in my diet, two things I rarely reached for before pregnancy. It was unexpected, but I allowed my body to guide me through that phase instead of resisting it.
Pregnancy changed the way I look at wellness. It is less about discipline and more about harmony. Less about pushing and more about understanding. If you have any specific questions about my training routine or nutrition during pregnancy, feel free to ask.
