Hidden beaches of Anguilla
What do you choose – public beaches with service or more secluded beaches with fewer people?
We really love exploring ‘secret’ beaches. How do we find them? Really easy – we open a satellite map and find the farthest corners of the beach and check out if there is a road or hiking trail to get there. And we go!
There are a lot of such places on Anguilla, but some of them are just impossible to reach because of too rocky cliffs of the North Coast.
Here is the list of our favorite spots we had a chance to explore:
– Little Bay. It’s not easy to get there by land – you have to climb down through a very slippery cliff and the only safety equipment you have is a tiny rope hanging from the top. But the beach itself is worth the struggle. It’s very secluded, only a couple of boats come and go, and it’s an amazing sunset spot. You can check it from the boat if you are not sure about climbing.
– Dog Island. It’s an uninhabited small island in the north of Anguilla. You can get there only by boat – about 20 min ride from the coast. It’s a huge and beautiful beach where nobody is around. The beach is covered with white sand and all kind of shells.
– Long Bay. I lost my phone there. It’s an enormous beach covered with white sand, it has a couple of areas diverted by rocks you can climb through. You can find several isolated spots there as well.
– Sandy Island. It completely suits its name. It will take 10 min on a boat from the North Coast. It’s a very small piece of land with a beach bar in the middle. During the weekends, it’s a great place for nice music, food, dance and talks to the locals
